The client’s initial coating was fraught with defects as an improper coating system was recommended for the laboratory environment which eventually proved disastrous. The bonding between coating and substrate was not met and on top of that, the cementation was also ineffective. All these issues led to the eventual crisis where the floor coating was delaminating all over and blistering off from the ground. The unfortunate circumstance resulted in an unplanned and lengthy downtime of the laboratory and more expenditure spent on rectification works. The client needed a swift solution that would not compromise on the quality of the coating with the existing floor.
Polygard® MTX 5022 | 5mm thick heavy duty epoxy mortar topping system with self leveling smooth finish
The defective coating in the laboratory was completely stripped off and all surface imperfections touched up with epoxy filler. Skilled labour and state-of-the-art equipment were then utilised in the application of the 5mm thick epoxy mortar moisture barrier to the treated floor surface. Lastly a 2mm thick solventless epoxy self leveling system was then applied for a smooth and seamless finish. The rectification process took a total of 7 days which minimised on the original expected downtime of the client.
